On Saturday, dozens gathered in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, for the Run to End Endo, an event aimed at raising awareness and funds for those living with endometriosis. Held at Grahams Grove Park near Lake Banook, close to 80 participants took part in a five-kilometre walk and run. Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting approximately two million Canadians, causing symptoms such as severe pelvic pain, painful menstruation, and infertility. The event not only raises funds for research and education but also fosters a sense of community among those affected by the disease. Run director Lauren Rogerson highlighted the significance of connecting individuals facing similar struggles, stating that sharing tips and support is vital for managing symptoms. The Run to End Endo initiative is taking place across Canada from May 23 to June 14, with last year's events raising over $100,000 nationwide for endometriosis research and support services. This year's efforts aim to continue that momentum and provide essential resources for those impacted by this debilitating condition.
