Craig Morton, a prominent former NFL quarterback, passed away on May 9 at the age of 83 at his home in Mill Valley, California. Morton is best known for leading the Denver Broncos to their first Super Bowl appearance in 1978 during Super Bowl XII, where the team faced the Dallas Cowboys. Despite a challenging game in which he threw four interceptions, Morton’s leadership helped the Broncos achieve their first playoff appearance that season. He was recognized for his outstanding performance in 1977, earning accolades such as the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Year and the NFL UPI MVP. Throughout his career, Morton set numerous franchise records for the Broncos, including 11,895 passing yards and 74 passing touchdowns. He was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame in 1988 and the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame shortly before. Before joining the Broncos, Morton played for the Dallas Cowboys, where he was the fifth overall pick in the 1965 NFL Draft and contributed significantly to the team's success.
