Google has announced significant performance improvements for Chrome on macOS, achieving record scores in key benchmarks. The latest results, shared in a blog post, show Chrome scoring 469 in the JetStream 3 benchmark, marking a 10% increase since early 2026, while Speedmeter 3.1 yielded a score of 61, a 5% year-over-year rise. These enhancements stem from targeted optimizations in three main areas: JavaScript, WebAssembly, and the Blink rendering engine. JavaScript improvements included refining the optimizing compiler and enhancing async operations, while WebAssembly optimizations focused on internal data structures and memory management. The Blink engine saw advancements in style resolution and DOM operations. These updates were detailed in a blog post released just before Apple's WWDC event, potentially positioning Chrome favorably against Safari, which is expected to announce its own improvements during the conference.
