In a significant operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 522.55 kilograms of cannabis, valued at approximately ₹2.61 crore, in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The operation targeted an alleged inter-state drug trafficking syndicate, leading to the arrest of two individuals caught transporting the drugs in a heavy-duty truck. The DRI officials reported that the accused were intercepted on National Highway-53 at the Mathani Toll Plaza. Upon searching the vehicle, officials discovered eight bags containing 247 packages of cannabis, cleverly concealed behind the driver's seat and wrapped in khaki-colored plastic tape. This seizure is part of the DRI's ongoing efforts against organized narcotics trafficking networks that operate across state borders. Earlier this year, the Nagpur unit of the DRI had already seized over 1,250 kg of cannabis worth ₹6.25 crore in two related operations. The seized cannabis and the vehicle were confiscated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, underscoring the DRI's commitment to combating drug trafficking in the region.
