Just two days prior, he communicated with NASCAR executive Steve O'Donnell, proposing a significant rule change that would allow veteran drivers over the age of 40 to compete more freely in the Truck Series. O'Donnell shared this during a press conference before the Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, highlighting Busch's enduring passion for racing. Busch, who holds the record for the most wins in the Truck Series with 69, suggested that the existing participation limits for Cup Series veterans be lifted. Currently, these drivers can only compete in eight Truck Series races per season and are barred from playoff events. O'Donnell acknowledged that Busch's proposal was partly humorous but also reflected his commitment to the sport. Busch's son, Brexton, is already recognized as a potential star in grassroots racing at just 11 years old. Tragically, Busch was found unresponsive inside a racing simulator prior to his hospitalization, and his passing has left a significant void in the NASCAR community.
