The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the IPL 2026 final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31, rather than at the originally planned venue, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This change comes amidst 'political complications' related to ticket distribution for local Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), which the BCCI cited as a significant factor in their decision. The BCCI's announcement also revealed that Bengaluru will not host any playoff matches this season, a notable shift given that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are the defending champions. Reports indicate that issues surrounding the allocation of tickets for MLAs created hurdles for the BCCI, prompting the change in venue. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar previously stated that MLAs would receive tickets for matches, further complicating the situation. As a result, the BCCI has opted for a special arrangement, distributing matches across three venues, primarily in Punjab and Karnataka, to accommodate the playoffs.
