Patna University (PU) has come under scrutiny for failing to celebrate the centenary of two of its landmark institutions: the Wheeler Senate House and Patna Science College. The Wheeler Senate House, inaugurated on March 20, 1926, has been a venue for many prominent figures, including Lord Mountbatten and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, yet no events were organized to mark its 100th anniversary. Similarly, Patna Science College, which will celebrate its centenary in July 2027, has not announced any plans for commemoration. Academicians, including Jayadeo Mishra, have expressed disappointment, stating that the absence of official celebrations reflects a lack of commitment from the university administration to preserve its legacy. Both institutions play a significant role in Bihar's educational history and their neglect represents a missed opportunity to engage the younger generation with the state's rich academic heritage. Celebrating these milestones could serve as an educational platform, showcasing Bihar’s contributions to higher education and inspiring students to appreciate their academic roots.
