The Airports Authority of India (AAI) reported that Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport achieved the highest growth in international passenger traffic among Indian metro airports in the financial year 2025-2026, with 72,27,399 total footfalls, reflecting a 23.9% increase. In contrast, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport maintained its status as the largest airport with 7,87,01,971 passengers, while Mumbai followed with 5,52,90,095. Overall, international traffic across India grew by 4.2%, while domestic traffic saw only a 1.4% increase, leading to a combined growth of 1.9%. Notably, Bengaluru's growth stood out amidst a backdrop of stagnation in Delhi, which experienced a slight decline of 0.1%. The report also highlighted significant growth at non-metro airports, with places like Shivamogga and Nashik showing increases of 54% and 24%, respectively. Looking ahead, the opening of Navi Mumbai airport is expected to shift the rankings as it begins operations, potentially impacting traffic patterns significantly.
