In a significant crackdown, police in Gurgaon arrested five individuals from Delhi for their involvement in a fraudulent call center scheme targeting credit card users. The gang, which had been active for the past five months, promised users increased credit limits and tricked them into clicking on fake links that led to the theft of their card details. Following a complaint on March 11, where a victim reported a loss of approximately ₹28,000, police launched an investigation. The gang would call victims, impersonate credit card company representatives, and persuade them to share sensitive information, including One-Time Passwords (OTPs). Once they obtained the card details, they made unauthorized online purchases, often selling the items for profit. The arrested individuals, all graduates, were identified as Rahul, Anuj Pal, Gaurav, Mukul Kirar, and Anchal. Authorities are also pursuing the alleged mastermind behind the operation who provided the gang with customer databases. The investigation continues as police explore potential links to other cyber fraud activities in different regions.
