A 12-year-old girl was discovered hanging at the residence of a doctor couple in Sunny Enclave, Mohali, where she had been employed as a domestic helper. According to her mother, the girl had been working there for several days and earned ₹5,000 per month. Initially, she returned home after work but began staying at her employer's house about 15 days before her death. Her mother revealed that the girl had been facing harassment from a youth, which led her to express a desire to quit her job. However, she was persuaded to continue working until the 20th of the month. Police are investigating the incident, which they are currently treating as a potential suicide, while also examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area to understand the events leading up to her death. Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
