The Delhi Traffic Police has flagged 19 significant traffic management and infrastructure issues across central and south Delhi, highlighting concerns such as missing iron grilles, faded road markings, potholes, and poorly designed bus stops. Following a survey, the police urged the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to take action to improve road safety and reduce congestion. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta stated that a meeting was held with NDMC officials to discuss these findings. Key areas of concern include the Delhi Cantonment traffic circle, where the absence of iron grilles increases the risk of unsafe crossings, and the Tilak Marg circle, where a pothole on Mansingh Road requires urgent recarpeting. The Barakhamba Road circle suffers from persistent congestion due to roadside parking, prompting police to recommend designated pick-up and drop-off points. The Chanakyapuri traffic circle is identified as a congestion hotspot due to poorly designed bus stops, with recommendations for dedicated bus bays. Overall, the report emphasizes that implementing minor engineering fixes can greatly enhance commuter safety and streamline traffic flow.
