In a recent election, 13 out of 15 ward committee presidents in Pune were elected unopposed, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning 12 positions and the Congress securing one. Elections for the remaining two wards, located in Yerwada and Dhole Patil, are scheduled for Monday. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), despite being the second-largest party in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), did not manage to win any seats on the regional ward office committees. The BJP's restructuring of the regional ward offices has faced criticism from the NCP, which claims these changes were politically motivated to undermine their chances of securing positions. In response to the NCP's objections, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar reached out to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who has since requested clarification from the municipal administration. The BJP has offered one position to the NCP from their quota as a conciliatory gesture.
