The Greater Noida authority has announced that the Gaur Chowk underpass is likely to be opened on August 15. The project, which is nearly complete, has a total estimated cost of ₹92 crore (approximately $11 million USD) and aims to alleviate traffic congestion on the busy Surajpur-Ghaziabad road. Currently, 20 out of 26 sections of the 700-metre-long underpass have been finished, with remaining work including excavation and wall construction. The underpass will provide a direct link between Greater Noida, Gaur City, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, allowing vehicles to bypass the congested intersection. Local residents have expressed frustration over ongoing construction and traffic diversions, emphasizing the need for the project to be completed promptly. The construction began in July 2024, but delays occurred due to environmental regulations under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
