The Greater Noida authority has decided to freeze water tariffs for the year 2026, discontinuing the routine 10% annual increase for the first time since 2013-14. This decision comes in response to consistent feedback from residents and resident welfare associations (RWAs) regarding rising household costs. Chief Executive Officer NG Ravi Kumar stated that this move will provide direct relief to allottees. Additionally, the authority has introduced a one-time settlement (OTS) scheme for clearing water bill dues, offering graded interest waivers of up to 40% for early payments, as nearly ₹290 crore (approximately $35 million USD) remains pending across various categories. Further relief measures include significant waivers on delayed payment penalties for flat buyers in authority-built housing projects. The board also approved the purchase of 102m hydraulic platforms to enhance firefighting capabilities in high-rise buildings, addressing safety concerns amid increasing tall structures. Other decisions include a 3.58% increase in land allotment rates and plans for a 220 kV substation in Ecotech-10, alongside initiatives for public transport and sustainability.
