A disturbing video from the emergency ward of a district hospital in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, shows an elderly man transporting his seriously ill wife on a handcart, prompting widespread outrage on social media. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak ordered an investigation into the incident, stating that serving the poor and ensuring quality healthcare is the government's priority. Health officials reported that the woman had been receiving treatment for high blood sugar levels but developed breathing difficulties, leading to a referral to a higher medical center. However, the elderly man alleged that despite spending hours at the hospital, his wife was not admitted. In the video, he expressed frustration over the healthcare system, stating, “If she has to die without treatment, it is better that she dies at home.” A three-member committee has been established to investigate the hospital's actions, with the guard on duty at the time removed from service. The findings of this investigation are expected within three days.
