ReNew Energy has announced plans to establish a 6.5 GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing facility in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh, India, with an investment of ₹4,200 crore (approximately $505 million USD). The foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, marking a significant step in the state's clean energy sector. This facility is part of ReNew's broader commitment of ₹82,000 crore to Andhra Pradesh, which includes plans for one of India's largest hybrid renewable energy projects in Anantapur district. The new facility is expected to create over 2,100 direct and indirect jobs and is projected to be commissioned within 24 months. The establishment of this plant will enable ReNew to integrate its solar photovoltaic module and cell manufacturing processes by producing essential upstream components like ingots and wafers, thereby strengthening the clean energy ecosystem in the region.
