In light of increasing security concerns, the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, has been granted Z category security following several bomb threat emails received since the budget session commenced on March 23. The assembly has reported receiving six to seven threatening emails during this period. The decision comes after a notable security breach on April 6, when an individual drove into the assembly grounds, breaking a boundary wall and placing a bouquet near the speaker's office. The new security measures include 24/7 protection from a specialized team comprising 22 personnel, including armed guards and surveillance staff. Additionally, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) quick response team has been deployed to patrol the area continuously. To further enhance security, automated boom barriers will be installed at all entry and exit points to ensure thorough checks of individuals and their belongings.
