In the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections, actor Vijay's party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), achieved a significant victory, winning 108 out of 234 seats and emerging as the largest party. This outcome has prompted Vijay to intensify his search for political allies to form the next government. He has reached out to Thol Thirumavalan, the chief of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), for support, although VCK leaders are still deliberating on the request. Additionally, Vijay has contacted other parties, including the Congress, CPI, and CPM, to secure their backing. The Congress party, which holds five seats, has confirmed its support for Vijay's leadership if he forms the government. Should VCK (with 2 seats), CPI (with 2 seats), and CPM (with 2 seats) also agree to support him, the TVK would gain the backing of 119 MLAs, exceeding the majority threshold of 118. The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by MK Stalin, has been significantly weakened, now holding only 59 seats. Vijay won both seats he contested, Trichy East and Perambur, and is expected to retain Perambur, potentially leading to a bypoll in Trichy East.
