On Sunday, the South African Police Service (SAPS) Search and Rescue Team recovered two bodies from the Crocodile River near Kamagugu in Nelspruit. The deceased have been identified as a 20-year-old male and a female aged between 18 and 23 years. The male victim's identity has been confirmed by family members, while the female's identity remains unverified, although a family is assisting in the identification process. The bodies were discovered trapped inside a white SUV, and specialized rescue equipment, including the Jaws of Life, was utilized to extract them. As rescue operations were concluding, another family reported their son missing, who had allegedly been traveling in the same SUV. They expressed concerns that he may be the third victim still unaccounted for in the river. Consequently, the SAPS Search and Rescue Team is expected to continue their search efforts. Authorities have opened a case of culpable homicide as investigations into the incident proceed.
