In a tragic incident in Campinas, Brazil, police officer Daniel Barbosa Marinho is alleged to have shot and killed his wife, Nájylla Duenas Nascimento, during their wedding reception on May 9. The couple had just married in a civil ceremony earlier that day. Witnesses reported that an argument escalated into physical violence, prompting family members to intervene and remove Nájylla's three children from the chaotic scene. During the altercation, Marinho reportedly used his service weapon to assault Nájylla and fired shots into the air before leaving. He later returned to the home and fatally shot her. Emergency services confirmed Nájylla's death at the scene. Marinho, who has been with the police force since 1998, was arrested on charges of femicide and domestic violence after he contacted the authorities himself. Nájylla's mother had previously warned her about Marinho's violent tendencies, particularly when he drank alcohol. Nájylla was pursuing a law degree online and was the eldest of four siblings, who traveled from Paraná to assist with her funeral arrangements. Marinho remains in police custody as investigations continue.
