A Delhi court has ordered the framing of charges against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and 19 others under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) for their involvement in a nationwide organized crime syndicate. The court, presided over by Special Judge Prashant Sharma, highlighted that the accused have committed multiple crimes, including extortion from businessmen and celebrities, contract killings, and illegal arms supply. The judge set April 30 as the next hearing date for formal charges, although Bishnoi will not be present due to restrictions on his movement from Sabarmati jail in Gujarat. The prosecution argued that Bishnoi coordinated gang activities even from prison, while his associates managed execution and logistics. The investigation revealed that the gang was involved in 71 cases of murder, extortion, and arms supply, and was living lavishly in jail, funded by extortion money. The court noted that gang members had international connections, operating from countries such as Thailand, Canada, and the USA using fake passports. Bishnoi is also linked to the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and a 2024 firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence.
