The Sector 12 bus stand in Gurugram, Haryana, has become a hotspot for garbage dumping and burning, causing health concerns among commuters. Despite multiple complaints to authorities, including a formal escalation by environmentalist Ruchika Sethi to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), no action has been taken. Fresh visuals show plastic waste burning near a public toilet in the bus complex, releasing toxic emissions classified as Group 1 carcinogens. Commuters like Sumit Tayal and Manoj Kumar have expressed frustration over the lack of response from authorities, noting that inspections are rarely conducted even when the inquiry counter is nearby. The depot manager, Gayatri Ahlawat, and other Haryana Roadways officials have not commented on the situation. Previous incidents of waste burning have also occurred, with a fire reported on April 12 requiring fire tenders to extinguish it. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and the Haryana Roadways have been passing responsibility for cleaning the area. Akansha Tanwar, an executive engineer at the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, stated that a ground inspection will be conducted to address the issue.
