On Thursday, Priyanshu Srivastava, a 24-year-old lawyer, tragically took his own life by jumping from the fifth floor of a court building in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. His suicide note, posted on WhatsApp shortly before the incident, revealed a history of childhood humiliation and academic pressures that contributed to his mental distress. Srivastava recounted a traumatic experience at the age of six, where he was punished by his father for drinking mango juice without permission, which left him feeling guilty and inferior. He also mentioned being forced to choose Computer studies over Physical Education in school, leading to ongoing feelings of humiliation. The incident caused chaos in the court, with many lawyers gathering at the scene. Police have launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and examining digital evidence related to the case. Srivastava's note requested that no one harass his mother after his death and indicated that he did not blame anyone for his actions. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
