The Nifty index has finally broken its four-session losing streak, closing with minor gains due to significant buying activity in metals, energy, and consumer stocks. Despite this, the index remained volatile, trading below the 20 Exponential Moving Average (EMA) throughout the day, indicating ongoing selling pressure. Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities, noted that the index's daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) continues to show a bearish crossover, suggesting that negative momentum persists. The 23,500 level remains a strong resistance, while immediate support is found between 23,150 and 23,200.
In stock recommendations, analysts suggest buying Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) at prices between ₹200-202, targeting an upside of 9% with a stop loss at ₹190. SAIL has shown a structural breakout, indicating a shift to a strong momentum-driven uptrend with heavy institutional accumulation. The RSI for SAIL is currently in the 75-78 zone, suggesting bullish momentum.
Additionally, Hindustan Copper is recommended for purchase at ₹590-595, with a potential upside of 6% and a stop loss at ₹575. The stock has completed a mean reversion and is showing signs of a trend reversal, supported by a solid base formation and rising momentum, having reclaimed its position above the daily EMA.
