In a significant rescue operation, 91 children were freed from three textile units in Surat, Gujarat, during a coordinated effort involving the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), and local police. Of the rescued children, 86 hailed from Rajasthan, while others came from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The children, aged between 7 and 14 years, were found working under dire conditions, often locked inside buildings for over 12 hours a day. Many were reportedly lured to Surat under the pretext of excursions, highlighting the deceptive tactics used by traffickers.
