The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has firmly dismissed rumors of an internal rift regarding its potential support for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan stated that the party is united and any decision on an alliance will depend on actor-turned-politician Vijay. He mentioned that the ball is in Vijay’s court and the party's high command will take the final decision. Recently, over two-thirds of AIADMK MLAs convened at the Chennai office of C V Shanmugam, advocating for support towards TVK, which currently lacks a majority in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Despite these developments, Sathyan reiterated that no formal decision has been made, and TVK has not reached out to any party for support yet. In the recent elections, TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, while AIADMK secured 47 seats. The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) faced a setback with only 59 seats. TVK is actively seeking alliances with other parties, including the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), to bolster its position. Vijay is anticipated to take the oath as chief minister on May 7 at Chennai's Nehru Stadium.
