The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has clarified that the Quad, comprising India, the United States, Japan, and Australia, will continue as a four-member grouping. MEA Additional Secretary Nagaraj Naidu stated that while the Quad is not expanding its membership at this time, it remains open to collaborating with other partners in specific areas of cooperation. Naidu described the Quad as a 'flexible and nimble' mechanism, highlighting its lack of a formal institutional structure, which allows for adaptability in addressing various challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. This clarification follows the recent Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in New Delhi, where key documents were adopted, including a joint statement and frameworks for energy security and critical minerals. The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of the member countries, showcasing the Quad's commitment to regional cooperation.
