On Monday morning, a 22-year-old man, Mahadev Uttam Shende, lost his life in a tragic accident on the Mumbai–Bengaluru highway near Navale bridge in Pune, India. The incident occurred around 8:05 am when a container truck, driven by Imran Abdul Jamadar, collided with Shende's pickup vehicle at high speed. The impact was severe, resulting in Shende's immediate death, while another passenger, Sumit Dattu Kamble, also 22, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a private hospital. Following the initial collision, the pickup crashed into another goods vehicle, causing a three-vehicle pile-up. The accident led to heavy traffic congestion on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass before police managed to clear the scene. Authorities have registered a case, and initial investigations indicate that reckless driving may have been a contributing factor.
