On Sunday evening, railway staff discovered a dismembered woman's body in an abandoned bag and box aboard the Gomti Express train in Lucknow, India. The Government Railway Police (GRP) reported that the body parts were found in coach number 217570 NER S-1 of train number 15114. The torso was packed in a box and wrapped in polyethylene, while the severed arms and legs were in a bag. The victim, estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old, remains unidentified due to the absence of the head, complicating efforts for identification.

The GRP is treating the case as a murder investigation. Senior police officials, along with a forensic unit from the Lucknow police commissionerate, inspected the scene and collected forensic evidence. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from various railway stations along the route and checking passenger reservation details to identify who brought the luggage onto the train. An FIR has been registered at the Charbagh GRP police station, and three specialized teams are working to solve the case. The gruesome discovery has caused panic among passengers and railway staff, as searches continue for the missing head and additional clues related to the murder.
