Renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan is preparing to direct his 100th film, a musical featuring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. This film, which will explore the intricate dynamics between a father and son who are both Carnatic singers, marks a departure from their typical comedic collaborations. The project is set to include around 12 songs and is described as a commercial entertainer with elements of action and family drama. Production is expected to commence in November. Priyadarshan is currently searching for an elderly newcomer to portray the father, emphasizing the need for a background in Carnatic and Hindustani music. Mohanlal expressed his heartfelt sentiments regarding this significant milestone, recognizing the journey they have shared in cinema. Their last collaboration was in the film Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (2021), which, despite its box office failure, won three National Film Awards. Meanwhile, Priyadarshan is also enjoying the success of his latest horror comedy, Bhooth Bangla, which grossed approximately ₹97.37 crore (roughly $12 million USD) within just four days of its release.
