The Hmar People's Convention (Democratic) - Lalhmingthanga Sanate faction has officially laid down arms, marking Mizoram as an insurgency-free state. This significant event was celebrated during a Home Coming and Arms Laying Ceremony in Sesawng, attended by Chief Minister Lalduhoma and other officials. The peace pact, signed on April 14, 2026, was the result of extensive negotiations, culminating in the formal surrender of 43 cadres. Chief Minister Lalduhoma praised the efforts towards peace and unity, urging citizens to reject divisive ideologies. Home Minister K Sapdanga called the day historic, acknowledging the chief minister's dedication to fostering harmony. The leader of the faction, Lalhmingthanga Sanate, recognized the government's efforts in addressing their concerns and the positive changes in the state. The journey towards peace has been long, with roots tracing back to the 1986 Peace Accord and subsequent agreements that sought to address the aspirations of the Hmar community.
