HFCL (Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited), a telecom equipment manufacturer, has announced an investment of ₹230 crore (approximately $28 million USD) to establish a new defence manufacturing facility in Sri Satya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh, India. This facility will focus on the production of Multi-Mode Hand Grenades (MMHG) and other related products, enhancing HFCL's capabilities in the defence sector. The project is slated for completion by December 2027. HFCL plans to finance this investment through a mix of internal funds, debt financing, and proceeds from a preferential issue of convertible warrants. The move aligns with the growing demand in the domestic and global defence markets, driven by geopolitical uncertainties and a focus on national security, providing significant opportunities for Indian manufacturers.
