NITI Aayog, India's policy think tank, has proposed a series of measures aimed at enhancing the quality of school education across the country. In its report titled ‘School Education System in India: Temporal Analysis and Policy Roadmap for Quality Enhancement,’ the Aayog suggests the creation of state and district task forces to facilitate coordinated efforts beyond the education department. These task forces, led by the chief secretary and district magistrate, would serve as platforms for strategic convergence, addressing implementation challenges and aligning policies with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The report outlines 13 recommendations, including eight systemic changes focused on governance, infrastructure, and digital learning, along with five academic recommendations aimed at improving pedagogy and student well-being. To ensure effective implementation, the report details 33 pathways across different timeframes, with over 125 measurable indicators to track progress.
