The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to continue its collaboration with Hyderabad-based COEMPT Eduteck Pvt Ltd for the scanning of answer sheets during the re-evaluation process. This decision comes despite ongoing controversies surrounding the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which were highlighted by a blog from 17-year-old student Sarthak Sidhant. He alleged that the tender conditions for the OSM contract were altered in ways that favored COEMPT Eduteck. Following these allegations, CBSE has assured that measures have been taken to secure the data, transferring all answer-sheet records to its own servers. The issue has gained traction in the political sphere, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanding an independent judicial inquiry into the tendering process. Sidhant presented his findings to the Parliamentary Committee for Education, further escalating the scrutiny on CBSE's practices. COEMPT Eduteck, previously known as Globarena Technologies, faced legal challenges in 2019 regarding a different examination but was cleared of wrongdoing by the courts.
