Nearly two years after its inauguration in December 2021, the swimming pool located next to Shaheed Udham Singh College in Indri, Karnal district, Haryana, India, remains locked and inaccessible to the public. Built at a cost of ₹5.59 crore and designed as a competition-sized eight-lane pool, it has suffered from neglect, with broken tiles, shattered glass windows, and algae growth in the water. The project, initially announced by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in June 2015, faced numerous delays before completion in 2024. Despite the pool's facilities, including separate bathing and changing areas, it lacks an electricity connection and a water motor, preventing its operation. Local swimmer Chitra Vishier expressed disappointment, stating that aspiring athletes are forced to use private pools, incurring significant expenses. District Sports Officer Satyaveer Poswal confirmed that the panchayati raj department has yet to officially take over the pool and assured that they are in contact with officials to expedite the process for its opening.
