On Wednesday, a court in Nashik, Maharashtra, India, extended the police custody of four individuals—Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Shahrukh Qureshi, and Raza Memon—until May 2. They were arrested on April 23 as part of an investigation by the special investigation team (SIT) into allegations of sexual exploitation and religious coercion linked to a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)-associated business process outsourcing (BPO) firm. The complaint was filed by a male co-worker who claimed that the accused had hurt his religious sentiments and coerced him into consuming non-vegetarian food. During the court proceedings, special public prosecutor Ajay Misar emphasized the need for further custodial interrogation to gather evidence, particularly to access passwords for laptops provided by the company. In contrast, defense counsel Baba Sayeed argued against the extension, noting that the accused had already spent over 15 days in custody for other cases, suggesting that further remand was unnecessary.
