Vinesh Chandel, the Director of the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), received bail from Delhi’s Patiala House Court following his arrest in a money laundering case related to an alleged coal scam in West Bengal. The court acknowledged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not oppose his bail, highlighting Chandel's cooperation during the investigation. However, the ED requested certain conditions, which the court imposed, including prohibitions against tampering with evidence and influencing witnesses. Chandel was arrested on April 13, 2023, after being questioned by the ED, which had previously indicated that he was actively involved in activities related to the generation and possession of proceeds of crime amounting to several crores. As a 33% shareholder of I-PAC, Chandel played a significant role in managing the election campaign for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress party.
