On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a one-time amnesty scheme specifically for Kashmiri migrant families, aimed at allowing them to update their family member details and Aadhaar information. This initiative comes after the Delhi cabinet approved significant changes to the Ad-Hoc Monthly Relief (AMR) scheme, which will now benefit 1,832 registered families from Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, the scheme has removed the income-related eligibility condition, meaning that a family's income or property ownership will no longer affect their eligibility for relief. Relief will be provided for a maximum of four members per family. The amnesty scheme is designed to ensure accurate records and allows families to correct any discrepancies in their information. Furthermore, if any beneficiary received excess relief due to errors, those amounts will not be recovered. The cut-off date for the amnesty has been extended to April 1, 2026, and the deadline for pending AMR dues has also been pushed to the same date. Payments under the scheme will be made through Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with a budget provision of ₹30 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
