Vikram Doraiswami, a 1992-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, arrived in Beijing on Sunday to assume his role as India's Ambassador to China. He was warmly welcomed by senior officials from both countries, including Li Jianbo from the Chinese Foreign Ministry and Angeline Premalatha from the Indian Embassy. Doraiswami's appointment is particularly significant as it comes during a period of renewed efforts to normalize relations between India and China, which have been strained since the military standoff in eastern Ladakh in April 2020.
