In the recent elections in West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved remarkable victories in the Muslim-majority districts of Malda and Murshidabad, winning eight seats in Murshidabad and six seats in Malda. This success was largely attributed to a fragmented Muslim vote bank and growing discontent among women voters, referred to as the 'Mohila drift,' which significantly undermined support for the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. BJP candidates like Amlan Bhaduri in Englishbazar secured 93,784 votes, while Joyel Murumu in Habibipur garnered 78,188 votes. Key campaign strategies included extensive rallies by party leaders Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who focused on themes of good governance and safety. Additionally, BJP's promises of cash transfers, including an increase in the Annapurnar Bhandar scheme, resonated well with voters. The party's organizational efforts, including effective booth management and unifying old and new party members, played a critical role in their electoral performance.
