The Panchkula district police in Haryana, India, are implementing a detailed security strategy for the municipal corporation elections on May 10. A high-level meeting led by Police Commissioner Shibas Kaviraj resulted in the deployment of approximately 1,200 policemen to ensure a free and fair electoral process. Voting will occur at 204 booths across 85 locations, with particular attention to 36 sensitive and 59 hyper-sensitive booths. To maintain law and order, additional police forces, including women personnel and SWAT commandos, will be stationed at these critical points. The police have also prepared four tear gas teams for emergencies and are enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against illegal liquor and drug trafficking. Enhanced monitoring will be conducted using 55 body cameras and active patrolling teams, ensuring that the elections are conducted smoothly and securely.
