Keshav Prasad Maurya, the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has made a bold prediction regarding the future of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav. Following comments from SP national vice-president Kiranmoy Nanda, who attributed the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) recent electoral defeat to corruption and misgovernance, Maurya stated that Yadav should prepare for a loss in the 2027 elections that would be worse than those suffered by Tejashwi Yadav (leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal) and Mamata Banerjee (chief minister of West Bengal). Maurya reinforced the idea that the lotus flower, the symbol of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), represents good governance, contrasting it with Yadav's leadership. Nanda's comments about the TMC's defeat have reportedly caused some discontent among senior SP leaders, although he has chosen to remain silent on the matter. Nanda had previously expressed his belief that the TMC's loss was inevitable due to the public's desire for a corruption-free government, highlighting the contrast between the TMC and previous state administrations.
