Inspired by the successful off-season training approach of Jammu and Kashmir, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has launched a special off-season camp at Kamla Club ground in Kanpur. This initiative aims to prepare the team for the domestic season starting in September, with a focus on addressing the frustrations experienced in recent years. Key figures involved in the camp include former India cricketer Gyanendra Pandey, who is noted for his calm and credible coaching style, and Praveen Kumar, a former pace bowler and current chief of the selection committee. UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta expressed optimism about the camp's potential to enhance player performance, stating, "This camp will surely help our boys prepare well for the next season." The UPCA is also planning similar camps for its women cricketers, reinforcing its commitment to improving cricket in the state. Pandey's coaching philosophy emphasizes preparation and confidence-building, which is crucial for a team with a rich talent pool that has struggled to achieve consistent results in the Ranji Trophy.
