Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang announced a significant increase in the company's investment in Taiwan, projecting an annual expenditure of $150 billion. This marks a substantial rise from previous years when Nvidia spent around $10 to $15 billion annually. Huang described Taiwan as the 'epicentre' of the AI revolution, emphasizing its importance in tech manufacturing and semiconductor production. The announcement coincided with the launch of Nvidia's new headquarters in Taipei, which is slated to break ground this year and aims to be operational by 2030. Huang highlighted the close relationship with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which is a key supplier for Nvidia and plays a crucial role in the production of advanced semiconductors. He expressed confidence in Taiwan's booming tech sector, stating that it is where essential components for AI systems are developed and manufactured. Huang's remarks were made at a celebration attended by his family and approximately 1,000 employees, underlining the company's commitment to expanding its operations in Taiwan.
