In a significant push to enhance healthcare access, Ludhiana district in Punjab, India, has successfully enrolled approximately 4.25 lakh residents under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, which was launched on January 22, 2023. This initiative promises cashless medical coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family, aiming to ensure that no eligible household is left uncovered. Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain highlighted the administration's commitment to simplifying the enrollment process, which requires only an Aadhaar card and voter ID, allowing residents to register instantly at any Common Service Centre (CSC) or designated camp without prior appointments. To further accelerate registrations, 76 enrollment camps will be organized across Ludhiana, starting Tuesday. Additionally, grassroots mobilization efforts are being implemented, with ASHA workers conducting door-to-door campaigns to raise awareness and ensure last-mile coverage. The scheme enables beneficiaries to receive treatment at over 800 empanelled hospitals, covering more than 2,500 medical procedures, including surgeries and critical illnesses, with expenses covered for up to three days prior to hospitalization and 15 days post-discharge.
