A significant counterfeit drug operation has been uncovered in Gurugram, Haryana, India, where authorities seized fake Mounjaro KwikPen injections valued at ₹56,15,847. The operation led to the arrest of two men: Shahbaz Alam Ansari, an Ola cab driver, and Mujammil Khan, who posed as a medical representative. The investigation, led by Drugs Control Officer Amandeep Chauhan, began after a tip-off. During the operation, authorities intercepted a vehicle near Super Mart I in Huda City Centre, where they discovered the counterfeit drugs. The injections, manufactured by Avi Sharma in his Gurugram apartment, were found to have discrepancies in labeling, including missing cold-chain storage instructions and incorrect manufacturer details. Each dose of Mounjaro typically retails between ₹13,000 and ₹25,000, making it a target for counterfeiters amid rising demand for weight loss treatments. Authorities are now expanding their investigation to trace the distribution network, which may be linked to Delhi's Bhagirath Palace market.
