The Delhi Panchayat Sangh has voiced strong objections to the implementation of an automatic toll tax collection system on Urban Extension Road-2, urging both the Central and Delhi governments to safeguard the existing toll exemptions for villagers. According to Than Singh Yadav, the chief of the Sangh, the current exemption allows nearby villages and rural residents to travel the 20-km stretch without toll fees. The proposed system could eliminate this relief, imposing additional financial burdens on small traders, farmers, and daily commuters. The Sangh argues that this move could adversely affect development in rural areas, as the road serves as a vital connectivity corridor. They also highlighted past grievances regarding land acquisition in Delhi's villages, where compensation was reportedly lower than market rates. Yadav announced plans for a large rural assembly to discuss these concerns and determine the next steps. This toll system was inaugurated by Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, marking the second Multi-Lane Free Flow barrier-less tolling system in India.
