Prasoon Joshi, a distinguished lyricist and communications expert, has been appointed as the chairman of Prasar Bharati, India's public service broadcaster, by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Known for his impactful contributions across literature, advertising, and cinema, Joshi's appointment is viewed as a significant step for the organization, especially as it navigates rapid technological changes and evolving audience expectations. Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his congratulations, highlighting Joshi's deep connection to Indian culture and his creative spirit. Prior to this role, Joshi served as the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, where he worked to balance creative expression with regulatory responsibilities. Established under the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act in 1990, Prasar Bharati encompasses All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD), which provide a range of programming to millions across India.
