Jose Charles Martin, the founder of the Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi (LJK) Party, confirmed on Friday that his party has submitted a letter to the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, supporting N. Rangaswamy, the chief of the NR Congress, for the Chief Ministerial position. Following the recent assembly elections, where the NR Congress won 12 seats and the LJK secured one seat, the coalition is poised to continue governing the Union Territory. Martin stated that the swearing-in ceremony for Rangaswamy will occur on May 13. In a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Kuniyil Kailashnathan, Rangaswamy staked his claim to form the government, presenting a letter of support from legislative assembly members. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the NR Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has successfully retained power, with the BJP winning four seats in the 30-member assembly. Rangaswamy, who has previously served as Chief Minister, won the Thattanchavady assembly constituency by securing 10,024 votes, defeating his nearest rival by a margin of 4,441 votes.
