Haryana's Quality Assurance Authority (QAA) has ramped up oversight of infrastructure projects, uncovering numerous issues since July 2025. The agency has acted on 30 cases, targeting poor workmanship and excessive payments to contractors. Under new regulations, all greenfield road projects and major infrastructure works valued at ₹5 crore (approximately $600,000 USD) or more must engage DPR consultants and undergo third-party inspections. The QAA, led by retired IAS officer Rajeev Arora, aims to enforce strict quality standards through a newly established Quality Index, categorizing projects based on compliance levels. Furthermore, the state government has mandated the display of QR codes on project sites, linking to detailed digital documents that include contractor information and project progress updates. This initiative is part of a broader push for accountability and transparency in Haryana's engineering infrastructure sector, with the QAA empowered to audit projects executed by central public sector units as well. The government has also approved the attachment of engineering officers to the QAA to bolster its oversight capabilities.
